Motor Cycle News (MCN), the UK’s leading motorcycle publication, has awarded the Harley-Davidson V-Rod ‘Cruiser of the Year 2003’ – its third consecutive win in the category; and the sixth in a row for Harley-Davidson.
Since its launch in 2001 Harley-Davidson’s first liquid-cooled, 1130cc V-twin has continued to delight critics and customers throughout the UK. Again in 2003 it has beat off competition from major manufacturers with its sports bike performance and futuristic, custom styling.
MCN’s editor-in-chief Adam Duckworth said: "Cruiser manufacturers have just one aim: to topple the daddy of them all - Harley-Davidson. But for the third year in a row no-one has managed it. Style, performance and the Harley-Davidson badge – the V-Rod has a winning combination in this category."
No other manufacturer has graced the MCN cruiser podium since 1997. Before the V-Rod the Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport recorded a double win in 1998 and 1999 and in 2000 the world’s most famous motorcycle, the Fat Boy, made it three in a row for Harley-Davidson.
Harley-Davidson UK marketing manager, Patrice Morin, said: "We’re obviously extremely excited for the V-Rod to have won this prestigious accolade for three consecutive years. It’s Harley-Davidson’s best selling motorcycle in Europe and the UK, and has won over 30 major awards world-wide. The VRSC family is expanding and we hope that the new VRSCB will receive the same recognition."
The 1130cc, 115 bhp V-Rod is the most powerful road-going Harley-Davidson ever built. Available in 2004 in striking new colours like impact blue, lava red or vivid black, the multiple award-winning V-Rod is £14,095 on the road and can be insured for as little as £426 fully comprehensive*.
