CRAIG PUTS HIS FAITH IN A NEW BIG BROTHER!Thursday 16 August 2001
Craig Phillips, who shot to fame as the winner of the original Big Brother contest, has just collected his latest minder – the muscular Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 TD sports utility vehicle.
Popular Liverpudlian Craig, who won fans all over the nation during his time in ‘the house’, will drive the Santa Fe to and from all his public appearances over the next 12 months.
Since winning Big Brother (and giving his £70,000 prize money to family friend Jo Harris for a heart and lung transplant) Craig has been busy presenting numerous TV programmes, as well as various charity appearances and releasing a hit single.
And having had the nation watching his movements (almost) 24 hours a day, Craig will have to get used to being looked at in the Santa Fe – which has proved to be a huge hit from those wanting something a little different from their SUV.
Craig said: "I am delighted to drive the Hyundai Santa Fe, which is not only a stylish vehicle but down-to-earth and practical as well."
Craig will drive the new 2.0 TD model, which boasts a high-tech two-litre turbo-diesel engine capable of 43.5 mpg on the extra urban cycle, a top speed of 103 mph and 115 bhp. Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd expects to sell more than 2,500 Santa Fes this year alone.
Former builder Craig has recently been seen as the resident DIY expert on BBC1’s House Call and ITV’s Renovation Street. He is currently filming the second series of Trading Up for the BBC, which will be screened later in the year.
