THE WEE HYUNDAI GETZ SCOOPS ANOTHER TOP AWARD IN 2003Saturday 25 October 2003
The Hyundai Getz has scooped a further major award in 2003, when it was named Scottish Small Car of the Year at a special ceremony at St Andrew’s Bay on 24 October.
The Getz beat off stiff competition from the Nissan Micra and Mazda 2 to clinch the title of Scottish Small Car of the Year, as voted by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) at their annual event.
ASMW President Graeme Giles said: "Fun to drive, well equipped and aggressively priced, the Hyundai Getz has proved a formidable contender in the cut-throat supermini class. The icing on the cake is an outstanding industry leading five year warranty."
At the start of the year the Getz was named Budget Car of the Year by What Car? magazine. A few months later it received a nomination in the Budget Car category of the Auto Express New Car Honours.
Jim Campbell, Marketing Director for Hyundai Car (UK) Ltd, said: "This latest award caps a wonderful year for Getz, which in its first year has become the most popular car in the Hyundai range.
"We are delighted to receive the winning vote of the Scottish motoring journalists who have chosen Getz as their favourite small car, beating off some mainstream newcomers."
The Getz, in common with all Hyundai cars, comes with a fully transferable five year unlimited mileage warranty, six year anti-perforation warranty and three year Hyundai RAC Assistance.
Prices for the Getz start at £6,995 on-the-road for the 1.1 GSI three door.
