KIA NAMED MOTOR TRADER’S CAR FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR

Motor Trader – the retail industry’s weekly bible – has named Kia Motors (UK) Limited as its 2004 Franchise of the Year in recognition of its dramatic growth and development in the UK new car market.

At the newspaper’s annual award ceremony held in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Kia was described as a "must-have" franchise for the UK’s car dealers.

The 10-strong judging panel were unanimous in selecting Kia, saying it had excelled in terms of producing new models, successfully marketing them and building close relationships with its dealer network.

The award was collected by Kia Motors (UK) Limited Managing Director Paul Williams who commented: "Since coming under direct factory ownership and control the brand has been the UK’s fastest growing car marque and thanks to a raft of exciting, technologically-advanced and great value products the public are seeing Kia as the smart-value choice in the new car market.

"Motor Trader has recognised the huge effort made by everyone at Kia in the past 20 months and this accolade will only encourage us further to continue to build the brand and deliver the best value and service to our customers and dealers."

Motor Trader Editor Curtis Hutchinson said: "This award is about the all-round development of a franchise – not just about car-building. The panel of judges are asked to nominate franchises which they feel have made a real difference in the industry and Kia just swept the board.

"Kia has made such a dramatic change – not just in terms of product but in all aspects of the business from marketing to network development. This has put Kia on an increasing number of consumers’ shopping lists and it has become a must-have franchise for dealers."
