Improved Mazda MPV in showrooms from December 2003
UK pricing remains unchanged at £18,500-£20,000 on-the-road
The improved Mazda MPV, in UK showrooms from December, has received a number of enhancements inside and out to ensure it continues to meet the demands of customers looking for a vehicle that is safe, fun to drive, has lots of space with seven seats and offers great flexibility.
Mazda MPV also offers great value for money with pricing remaining unchanged at £18,500 for the 2.3-litre petrol and £20,000 for the 2.0-litre diesel model, ensuring it will continue to appeal to the growing people carrier market in the UK. MPV segment sales have increased this year, proving that demand for practical multi-purpose vehicles is still increasing.
A refreshed front end design gives a more athletic appearance, featuring redesigned bonnet, bumper, grille and lights, in line with the distinctive Mazda design seen on models such as the Mazda6 and Mazda2. New exterior colours, new body side mouldings, two new designs for 15" and 16" alloy wheels and new rear lights add to the stylish new look.
The updated interior has a refined feel with a smart black dashboard, black and silver finish to the centre instrument panel and chrome detailing. Soft touch front door arm rests, new fabrics and enlarged door trim surfaces create a comfortable yet spacious cabin environment. A new three-spoke, leather covered steering wheel with integrated audio remote control buttons adds to comfort and convenience for the driver.
The seven seat Mazda MPV can transport seven passengers in comfort – on individual seats – but allows for 294 litres to 1,600 litres of cargo volume with a maximum of 2,140 mm of load length when all but the front seats are removed.
Mazda MPV has a long list of standard features including a CD audio system with eight speakers and steering wheel audio controls, air conditioning with independent front and rear controls, heated electric mirrors, electric windows and sunroof and remote central door locking, among many others. There are also alloy wheels, front fog lights and full length roof rails to increase the appeal of the exterior styling.
Mazda MPV offers the choice of 2.3-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines matched to a precise-shifting five-speed manual transmission. The frugal 2.3-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines return 28 mpg and 39.8 mpg respectively on the official Combined cycle.
The 2.3-litre petrol engine has a top output of 141 ps at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 195 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm. It emits CO2 emissions of 240 g/km and is Euro IV-compliant. The 2.0-litre diesel engine has a top output of 136 ps at 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 310 Nm at 2,000 rpm. CO2 emissions are 188 g/km and it is Euro III-compliant.
On the road, the MPV’s robust chassis system features a front MacPherson strut front suspension and a rear torsion beam suspension system which insures stability and control in even the most demanding driving situations.
The improved Mazda MPV has been designed to protect its occupants in all possible crash scenarios, improving on the already excellent safety package. An upgraded brake system featuring new 286 mm ventilated disc brakes at the rear
