NOTHING FITS YOUR BUSINESS BETTER
Comfort, economy and safety
Panel van, Dualiner and Traveliner with rear-wheel drive
Two wheelbases, three vehicle lengths, two roof heights
Three diesel engines ranging from 88hp (65 kW) to 150hp (110 kW)
After a successful World premier at the RAI International Commercial Vehicle show - Amsterdam 2003 (16-25 October), DaimlerChrysler UK is delighted to premiere the new Mercedes-Benz Vito at Stapleford Park country house hotel. The original Vito was launched in 1995 and represented an entry into a new sector of the van market for Mercedes-Benz. Three years later the model range was updated with common-rail diesel engines, a world wide first immediately setting a new benchmark for the application of technology in vans.
Since launch, the first-generation Vito has grown into a major success story. Manufactured at the Vitoria plant in Spain, production to date exceeds 500,000 vehicles, market share stands at around 16.2 % in Western Europe, with customers in 80 countries around the world.
The new model range has been extended considerably, allowing it to cover an incredibly broad spectrum of applications. Consequently, the Panel van, Dualiner and Traveliner variants are now available in a choice of three vehicle lengths, two wheelbases and two roof heights, and can be fitted with any one of three diesel engines spanning the power spectrum from 88hp (65 kW) to 150hp (110 kW).
The new panel vans offer up to 6.49 cubic metres of load space and a payload allowance of 1.14 t for transporting goods and materials. And when the Traveliner variants are carrying their full quota of eight passengers plus driver, there is still almost one cubic metre of load space available for luggage.
One vehicle, three lengths
The new design immediately gives away the characteristic Mercedes-Benz breeding. Compared to the previous Vito, the side profile has taken on a noticeably more dynamic form. The headlamps, the radiator grille and the way in which the bodylines flow are all unmistakable traits. At the rear of the vehicle the large vertical taillights really make the new model stand out.
Two wheelbase variants (3200 mm and 3430 mm), three vehicle lengths (compact = 4748 mm, long = 4993 mm and extra-long = 5223 mm) and two roof heights make it possible to offer a range of load carrying capacities varying from 4.65 to 6.49 cubic metres. When maximum space is required, one particularly handy feature is the extra load space beneath the front seats. Accessible from the rear, the maximum load length can be augmented by a further 200 mm, regardless of the body length chosen.
Whichever configuration is specified, the new model’s sliding side doors and rear doors are large enough to allow the standard Europallet to be loaded by forklift. The load width between the wheel arches (1277 mm) allows up to three Europallets to be loaded one behind the other. Load security, an often overlooked active safety measure can come in many forms. Non-slip wooden load floors fitted with numerous anchoring lugs can be complemented by a choice of bulkheads or cargo retention systems allowing flexible restraint and safety.
The Vito Dualiner equipped with a second row of seats has been designed for transporting groups of up to six people together with luggage or work tools. Depending on the particular variant, this option offers a load space of up to 4.14 m3 and can carry loads up to 3099 mm in length (including use of the space underneath the front seats). The Traveliner model, also available in a choice of three vehicle lengths can carry up to eight passengers plus a driver in comfort, whist still offering a luggage capacity of up to 970 litres. The sophisticated interior, comfortable seats with integral three-point seat belts, versatile seating arrangements, plus a host of other features make the Mercedes-Benz Vito an ideal form of personnel transport.
