ŠKODA AUTO LAUNCHES THE OCTAVIA HATCH 4X4


Škoda Auto is adding another four-wheel drive model to its Octavia range, with the introduction of the Octavia Hatch 4x4. It has the look and driving characteristics of a normal passenger car, but with a permanent, intelligent four-wheel drive system. Available at Škoda retailers now, it is priced at £15,500.

The Octavia Hatch 4x4 offers the same superb handling and specification as the Octavia Estate 4x4, for drivers who want the advantages of permanent four-wheel drive but prefer hatchback styling. At the heart of the four-wheel drive is the Haldex coupling system, which monitors electronic, hydraulic and mechanical information and provides immediate reaction to actual road grip. It operates in conjunction with a host of other synchronised safety features like ABS, EDS, EDL and ESP, all working together to provide better traction, especially in adverse driving conditions and to ensure safer driving.

Powered by a 1.8 turbo-charged engine delivering 150bhp, the Octavia Hatch 4x4 delivers excellent torque, especially in lower gears, and a maximum speed of 131 mph. The Hatch 4x4, like all Octavias, features Variable Servicing, which can extend service intervals for up to two years, depending on driving style.

The Hatch 4x4 has the good looks of the Octavia range, with a distinctive look of its own due to the 24mm increase in ride height. Available only in top of the range Elegance trim, the Hatch 4x4 has other distinctive features, such as ESP which helps to maintain stability in cornering, a larger fuel tank, and model specific badging on the gear lever and boot lid. It enjoys the same spacious passenger cabin as the standard Octavia hatchback, carrying five people in comfort, and has a very generous 428 litres of luggage space, expanding to 1,228 litres with the rear seats folded.

For added peace of mind, the 4x4 comes with Škoda’s excellent warranty coverage, one of the best in the UK, that includes a 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty, 10-year warranty against corrosion perforation and a 3-year paint warranty.

With most 4x4 vehicles priced in the luxury range, the combination of advanced technology, excellent interior passenger and carrying space, and a very economical price, the Octavia Hatch 4x4 is unique in the UK market.
