Tata Safari
Vehicles in the Sports Utility sector vary in size and price, ranging from the Toyota RAV 4 to the Land Rover Discovery. During 2002 UK sales of this sector totalled c138,000 units.
With its generous dimensions (largest in this sector) and most competitive price, the Tata Safari will represent extremely good value for money.
Similar in size to a Discovery, the Tata Safari is a full 7 seat, 5 door Sports Utility with electrically controlled, selectable 2WD/4WD.
The Safari will be targeted at retail customers with a penchant for outdoor activities, small businesses, farmers and the construction industry. A solid and robust form of transport, the Tata Safari is available at a most advantageous price.
Tata TL (Pick-Ups)
The four Tata TL models (2WD TL 2 Single Cab, TL2 Double Cab, 4WD TL 4 Single Cab and 4WD TL 4 Double Cab) will compete against the Mazda B series, Mitsubishi L200, Ford Ranger, Nissan Pick-Up and Toyota HiLux. With most competitive list prices, the range offers an attractive, value for money advantage and will make major inroads into the commercial pick up sector, which in 2002 accounted for almost 12,000 vehicles.
With load bays that can easily swallow a Euro pallet, one tonne upwards payloads and impressive ground clearance, the vehicles are designed to withstand the rigours of a hard daily schedule. The TL range offers four affordable, no frills vehicles with low running costs and reliability at their heart.

Bolted to the chassis through ten rubber body mounts sits the all steel, 5 door, Safari body which can seat seven (2+3+2) with ease.
Powertrain
The selectable 2WD/4WD Safari is powered by a 2.0 litre intercooled turbo charged diesel engine producing 90 Ps (89bhp, 64kW) at 4300 rpm and 190Nm of torque at 2500 rpm, matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
An electrically controlled Borg Warner transfer box is mated to the rear of the main gearbox giving three drive options:
