At Starkwood Media Group Ltd (company registration number 04030011) we take the collection, processing and storage of our customers data very seriously and have reviewed all our procedures to ensure we comply with the latest GDPR Regulations.

Most of the changes we have made are to our own internal systems and processes and these will be invisible to our customers. However we do collect and process customer data in a number of ways and these are described in this Privacy Policy.

All data that is collected from any of the methods outlined below will be stored on our secure servers provided to us by Rackspace, Microsoft and Amazon. All data will be deleted according to our retention policy of 12 months unless this data has been used as part of a contract or for invoicing purposes in which case we shall retain the information for at least 5 years to comply with HMRC Guidelines.

If we are asked to register or have a domain transferred to our control, the domain registration owner information (your name, company name and address) will be shared with the registrar we use, Total Registrations, in order to maintain your domain, who will share this information, for the purpose of maintaining your domain registration, with the domain registry who may publish this in a 'who is' online directory. For a .uk domain the registry is Nominet. The processing of this data is required to fulfil our contractual obligations of registering, renewing and maintaining your domain under our control.

Almost all Web servers record users requests made upon them (such as the visitor's IP address, browser type, referring page and time of visit) in log files.

We use Google Analytics for capturing anonymised traffic statistics and performing historic research in to website usage patterns. We do not use this to personally identify anyone, and do not allow Google to do this either.

How the information is used

The information is used to enhance the visitor's experience when using the website to display personalised content.

Personal data, such as names and email addresses will not be sold, rented or leased, and not kept longer than required to provide the service it was supplied for. We may share your information with the service proivders we partner with to allow us to fulfil our contractual obligations in providing the services that we do, these include, but are not limted to Sage, BACS, Codeweavers, Ivendi, Evolution Finance, Visitor Chat, Contact at Once, CarGurus, Autotrader, Motors.co.uk, Ebay and Gumtree.

If you have used our Compucars.co.uk product and completed an enquiry form, then this data will be shared with the relevant dealer. This data is stored according to our retention period to facilitate any dispute there may be between the consumer and dealer.

E-mail may be sent to you for the purpose you registered but will not be used for unrelated marketing. We use Mailchimp for our outbound email marketing and their Privacy Policy can be found here.. https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

Where there has been a data breach Starkwood Media Group will inform all companies within 7 working days of this breach and the remedy applied.

However all password data we hold is encrypted and the transmission of data is by SSL wherever possible.

Autohub Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Starkwood Media Group Limited and data will be shared across both companies.

Visitor Options

If you have subscribed to our newsletter, you may unsubscribe by replying to any of the email correspondents and simply state you wish to unsubscribe to the service.

You are entitled to view, amend or delete the information that we hold about you and this can be requested by emailing us at [email protected]

You may request the erasure of your details from our system, this will be done for all marketing data we hold on an individual, however where there are compliance requirements we are unable to remove your data for example contractual data or billing data which must be kept on file for a certain length of time.
